Join us for our third Latin Dance Adventure, with Cumbia lessons provided by Aura Maurice from Dance with Me Studio.
Enjoy a night of social dancing and celebrate their rich culture and history. Latin dancing has enamored and brought joy to many across the world. These dances—marked with sensual moves and electric energy—have great history to them. Join us on these adventures of Latin dance styles such as: Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cha Cha, Cumbia, Brazilian Samba, Kizomba, and Regional Mexicano. Together we can learn about their history and impact on the world today.
For those wanting to add a bit more music to their evening, we invite you to join us for a pre-event performance at 6 p.m. called Rhythm y MÁS, curated by LatinX Theater Project in collaboration with Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and En Fuego Dance & Fitness.
Rhythm y MÁS is a collection of its original songs, scenes, and poems handpicked to keep spirits high and hold down the beat. LXTP creates ensemble-made, multi-disciplinary performances that uplift and unite under-represented communities throughout Northwest Arkansas. Its work includes original dialogue, movement, music, poetry, and rap that brings focus to the authentic representation of Latinx voices in the arts and community. We hope you’ll join us for a night of good music and great dancing.
The fun starts with Rhythm y MÁS at 6 p.m., followed by a half-hour, beginner dance class at 7:30 p.m. (no partner needed!). After that, we’ll dance to your favorite Latin songs until 10:30 pm! And, in honor of our exhibition Diego Rivera’s America, we encourage you to come dressed in your favorite colorful attire or flower prints.
See you on the dance floor!
