Celebrate the joy of autumn this October at Crystal Bridges!

We’ll have a variety of autumn-inspired nature activities for you to enjoy during this drop-in celebration. Join us on the Art Trail at noon for a trail walk with Senior Manager of Landscape Experience Samantha Best as she discusses the plants of Crystal Bridges, or head over to Walker Landing anytime from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to watch a topiary demonstration by Mike Gibson. Drop by the South Lawn from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to hear from local NWA garden clubs about their organizations and their memories in the garden, and to create some crafts.

About the Speakers

Samantha Best

Samantha Best, Senior Manager of Landscape Experience, started a landscape architecture and construction company with her husband which she would run for 18 years. Within this role, Samantha honed her skills at understanding how people use outdoors space, worked to educate her clients about environmental stewardship and sustainable landscape practices, and brought unique design solutions to the landscapes of hundreds of clients. As a builder, Samantha was steeped in the practicalities and details of landscape construction.

In 2020, Samantha and her family discovered Northwest Arkansas on a summer road trip, a journey that would change the trajectory of her career, ultimately leading to her current role at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Here, Samantha combines her knowledge of designing with nature and her love for storytelling to activate the museum’s outdoor spaces in ways that educate and inspire guests to take an active role as environmental stewards in their daily lives. In addition to her role at Crystal Bridges, Samantha is a board member of Friends of Hobbs, a city planning commissioner for Rogers, AR, an Arkansas Master Naturalist, and a member of the Arkansas Environmental Education Association.
