Join us for an engaging morning as we host writer and avid birdwatcher Christian Cooper for a captivating lecture on his acclaimed book Better Living Through Birding. Hosted by Jaclyn House, this talk will showcase Christian’s unique perspective and passion for the avian world and bring a fresh and enlightening angle to the intersection of nature, art, and personal well-being.
Following the lecture, we invite you to participate in a book signing session with Christian Cooper. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the author, have your copy of Better Living Through Birding personally signed, and engage in meaningful conversations about the beauty of nature and the joy of birdwatching. Jaclyn House is a Chicagoland native but has called NWA home for more than 20 years.
Jaclyn currently produces and co-hosts Good Day NWA, the area’s only daily lifestyle show that highlights the amazing people and places that make Northwest Arkansas a great place to live.
Jaclyn is a mom of three and married to her college sweetheart Raymond House. She enjoys speaking at various events in NWA, meeting and connecting with new people and has a passion for community service. Jaclyn is a member of the Northwest Arkansas (AR) Chapter of Links, Incorporated. She also serves as a board member for Ovations Plus NWA, NWA Food Bank and serves as a Community Ambassador for Single Parent Scholarship Fund of NWA.
Christian Cooper is an NY Times best-selling author, with his debut memoir, Better Living Through Birding. He is also the Host and a Consulting Producer for National Geographic’s hit series: Extraordinary Birder with Christian Cooper. Practically born with a pair of binoculars in his hands, he served as president of the Harvard Ornithological Club in his college days; currently as a vice president of New York City Audubon he advocates for greater, safer access to green spaces for all, with a focus on outreach to youth in underserved communities. A longtime activist on issues of racial justice and LGBTQ equality, Christian combined his passions in the BLM graphic short story “It’s a Bird” from DC Comics, and he continues to seek synergy at the intersections of storytelling, progressivism, and environmentalism.
