BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Crystal Bridges today announced Keith Haring’s Life & Legacy: A Conversation to accompany Keith Haring in 3D featuring independent curator Glenn Adamson, biographer Brad Gooch and Arkansas-based photographer Tim Hursley. Taking place in the museum’s Great Hall on November 12, the panel will discuss the life and times of Keith Haring.
The lecture compliments Crystal Bridges' temporary exhibition Keith Haring in 3D, the first to explore Haring's three-dimensional practice at this scale. The exhibition repositions Haring within the influential creative networks of the downtown New York art scene in the late 1970's and early 1980's.
Haring led a highly collaborative artistic career, working with artists and influential figures such as Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat, as well as photographer Tim Hursley and videographer Courtney Harmel. Hursley documented both Haring and the New York City club scene of the 1980's, and Harmel's recording of Madonna's performance in a Haring-painted jacket is on view in the exhibition.
Drawing on Haring's collaborative spirit and firsthand experience working with him, the panelists will discuss Haring's enduring legacy as an artist and cultural figure.
