How did immigration from China to the southern United States persist despite the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882? Join us for an outdoor screening of the documentary Far East Deep South which explores the history of immigration from China to the Mississippi Delta region. The screening includes a live panel discussion with the film’s producer Baldwin Chiu, cinematographer Jason Poon, Dr. Robert Voss, history professor at Northwest Missouri State University, Dr. Russell Sharman, communications professor at the University of Arkansas, and Dr. Ram Natarajan, anthropology professor at the University of Arkansas. The event will be held outdoors in-person for up to 100 guests.
