Steel Workers
Two workers appear at rest, as if posing for the viewer. Steel Workers is an atypical screenprint for Harry Sternberg, who favored crisp lines and dramatic light sources. The application of layers of wet-on-wet ink gives the background its texture, while the painterly drips of the red steel beams lend a playful feel to the rigid material.
