Tortoise and Hare

This pair of competitors from Aesop’s famous race between the tortoise and hare seem to be guiding guests to Crystal Bridges via the Art Trail. Nancy Schön’s sculptures suggest that “slow and steady wins the race”, providing a welcome reminder to take in the gorgeous forest surrounding. Schön is well known for her whimsical, engaging sculptures featuring animals—often from well-loved works of children’s literature.
