BENTONVILLE, Ark.Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and the Momentary are celebrating Arbor Day with a slate of programming focused on nature. The experience of and appreciation for nature is central to the mission of Crystal Bridges.

On Friday, April 25, the Momentary will host a conversation and cocktails panel exploring the legendary Ozark Chinquapin tree. Once a cornerstone of the Ozark native forests, the discussion will shed light on the fight to bring the Ozark Chinquapin tree back to its former glory. The talk will be led by Steve Bost, founder of the Ozark Chinquapin Foundation, Steve Chyrchel, interpretive specialist at Hobbs State Park, and Samantha Best, senior manager of outdoor experience at Crystal Bridges.

On Saturday, April 26, there will be a free Arbor Day Celebration at Crystal Bridges’ Campus Parking Plaza. The Arbor Day Celebration embraces nature with nature-themed activities for people of all ages. Guests will have the opportunity to craft a tree-like sculpture inspired by Roxy Paine’s Yield, enjoy tree-themed drinks and snacks, and chat with local nature experts and community partners.

The trails and grounds at Crystal Bridges and the Momentary are a must-see part of the museum experience. More than five miles of trails wind through the museum’s 134-acre site, providing guests with access to the beautiful Ozark landscape. In 2024, Crystal Bridges was awarded Level I Accreditation by the ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program. The museum is the only museum in Arkansas that is also an arboretum. Crystal Bridges’ trails and grounds are open from sunrise to sunset and during museum hours.
