Throughout the course, you’ll learn both the technical skills needed for photography, as well as how to apply your own creativity and people skills to create great portraits. We’ll cover how to use our cameras and process digital data, as well as how best to connect to your subject and collaborate with them through mutual trust and respect.
All supplies are included*, and no artistic experience is necessary. Need-based scholarships to cover class registration are available.
Tickets are $150 ($120 for members), reserve your spot online or with Guest Services at (479) 657-2335 today. Ticket includes all supplies and registration for all eight class sessions.

A portrait is a story about a big, beautiful life; How can we best honor that story? Storytellers are vital to our world, and artist Meredith Mashburn feels honored to teach you the art of storytelling through portraiture.
Based in Northwest Arkansas, Meredith Mashburn has been a professional photographer for over 25 years. As a commercial photographer, she travels all over the world for her craft and works with a dynamic array of clients. Mashburn’s portfolio of work– described as modern, classy, and colorful– includes commercial, fashion, music, and portrait photography. She particularly enjoys teaching portrait photography, as it helps her to connect with and learn about herself as much as she learns about others.
Creative Aging programs by Crystal Bridges strive to support creativity, self-expression, and community in older adults. Each program is guided by a professional artist and educator and is designed to help participants learn and apply artmaking skills, engage with artworks in the museum collection, and build connections with each other. Our goal is to provide a space for older adults that welcomes all, promotes physical and mental wellbeing, and helps people age creatively together.
A limited number of need-based scholarships are available for Studio 55+ Portrait Photography, covering 100% of tuition. Scholarships are awarded through a lottery system and cannot be awarded if the participant has already been registered through the regular registration process.
