Spring is in bloom at Crystal Bridges as the museum offers programming for all ages inspired by female artists as part of Women’s History Month, the beauty of nature in combination with art, and the museum’s current temporary exhibition, Men of Steel, Women of Wonder.

Visit Men of Steel, Women of Wonder, featuring art-world responses to Superman and Wonder Woman by over 50 artists. Tickets to the exhibition can be purchased here. The exhibition is also accompanied by a full roster of March programs.

In honor of Women’s History Month, Crystal Bridges will be recognizing the talents and contributions of female artists to the canon through a series of discussions, talks, and more, highlighting “wonder women” artists from Men of Steel, Women of Wonder, and beyond.

Artists Dara Birnbaum and Sarah Hill, both featured in Men of Steel, Women of Wonder, will come together in an evening of art and dialogue about gender, identity, Wonder Woman, and more. The evening will begin with a screening of Birnbaum’s work Technology/Transformation: Wonder Woman, followed by a moderated discussion between Birnbaum (who will join via Skype) and Hill. Concluding the evening will be a special live performance with Sarah Hill of They Wonder. The event is free, seats can be reserved here.

Visual artist, composer, musician, film director, and writer Laurie Anderson will be in conversation at Crystal Bridges on March 22 as part of the museum’s 2019 Distinguished Speaker Series. She is well known for her 1980 hit, O’ Superman, which is also featured in Men of Steel, Women of Wonder. On the evening before (March 21), there will be a free screening of Anderson’s film, Heart of a Dog. Tickets and more information for the Distinguished Speaker Series may be purchased here.

Art in Bloom, Crystal Bridges’ annual celebration of the power of art combined with the beauty of nature, will take place March 15-19. Local florists will display floral arrangements next to works of art in the permanent galleries. The weekend will also feature live demonstrations, workshops, and talks throughout the day.

Spring Break Specials will offer family-friendly games and activities to welcome spring every afternoon at the museum from March 16-24. Every afternoon is free, no registration required.

David Levinthal: Barbie and Baseball is a new, free, focus exhibition now on view. Photographer David Levinthal created large photographs of immaculately styled Barbie dolls and plastic baseball figurines are posed in a way that makes them look real. These photographs, recently gifted to Crystal Bridges, will be on display for the first time, located in the Early American Art Gallery, through August 2019.

Wheelchair seating is accessible at all programs. American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation is offered at all Distinguished Speaker Lectures and at the Collection Highlights tour on the third Saturday of each month.
