Momentary Summer Camp | Filmmaking Studio with Dayvision (Ages 14-18)

Are you ready to step behind the camera and tell a story without saying a word? Designed for teens ages 14–18, this weeklong Teen Studio at the Momentary invites students to explore the art of filmmaking through visual storytelling. Led by production professional and founder of DAYVISION, Mike Day, participants will work collaboratively to create a completed 60‑second silent film, learning how images, movement, and composition can communicate powerful ideas on screen. Inspired by the Momentary’s current special exhibitions, students will dive into the fundamentals of cinematic language—exploring shot composition, framing, directing for camera, and visual storytelling techniques. No camera? No problem! All necessary equipment will be provided, though students are welcome to bring their own camera if they prefer. Throughout the week, participants will move through the full filmmaking process, from storyboarding and pre-production planning to on-set collaboration and introductory editing. The studio culminates in a group screening and reflection, giving students the chance to share their finished films and celebrate their work.
