Are you looking for a new way to engage your students and improve learning outcomes? Partnerships between schools and art museums have the power to improve student learning, engagement, creativity, and more. However, not much is known about the power of these programs because little research has been done. Crystal Bridges wants to change this and we are looking for school partners to participate in a research program.
The program will provide professional development for teachers over a full school-year period and will include multiple field trips to Crystal Bridges as well as classroom residencies with teaching artists who will demonstrate new ways of adding creativity to teaching practice.
The research project will begin with the 2017-18 school year, during which University of Arkansas researchers will collect baseline data and spend time getting to understand your school’s culture and goals.
The partnership program will begin in full with third-grade students during the 2018-19 school year and will provide professional development to all third-grade teachers. The following year (2019-2020), the program will follow the students into fourth grade and provide professional development to the fourth-grade teachers. The final year (2020-2021), the program will follow the students into fifth grade and provide professional development to all fifth-grade teachers. If selected and your school does not serve fourth or fifth grades, we will work with you to extend this opportunity to the feeder .
This program is fully funded, including a week-long professional development program onsite for teachers. Schools that are selected to participate will also receive $1,000 annually for each year of participation to use for any school-related activity.
The deadline to apply is May 5. Schools will be notified by May 15.
