Home and Away at Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport.

Celebrate the art of everyday life and artistic journeys during your own travels with the inaugural exhibition of our satellite gallery at Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport, Home and Away.

Featuring paintings, prints, photographs, and drawings from the collection—some on view for the very first time—the show offers a compelling look at how American artists navigate themes of place and discovery, artists at home and artists on the move.

In paintings, prints, photographs, and drawings, half of this selection of artworks explores how American artists have long found fertile subject matter close at hand, from their own dwellings and neighborhoods to grand vistas across a long-romanticized frontier.

The other half illustrates how American artists have been drawn onto distant journeys, whether to partake in the tradition of European artistic training or to visit locations deemed exotic and unexplored. In more recent years, some artists have blurred the lines between foreign and familiar, revealing how these concepts can depend more on a state of mind than geography.

Over the course of two years, the gallery will feature four rotating groupings of works, including landscapes and botanical studies; cityscapes and architectural studies; artworks centered on the artist’s own home and community; artworks inspired by the artist’s long or influential trips abroad; and self-portraits.

Free for ticketed travelers at XNA. Open during airport operational hours.
