Walker Landing Nights: The Labyrinth
Coming this summer to a museum near you: movies, music, puppets, and more!
Presented in partnership with the Arkansas Cinema Society, enjoy a “puppet-palooza” of family-friendly fun on Walker Landing as we celebrate the art of puppetry and movie magic pioneered by artists like Jim Henson. Start your night off with creative activities inspired by Henson’s films, including artmaking, presentations, and more.
Then, once the sun begins to set (around 8:30 p.m.), we’ll settle in for an outdoor screening of our feature film: The Labyrinth. Directed by Jim Henson, produced by George Lucas, and starring David Bowie in one of his most iconic roles as the Goblin King Jareth, The Labyrinth follows Sarah (Jennifer Connoley) as she explores a fantastical maze and tries to save her baby brother from the Goblin King’s clutches. A cult classic since its release in 1986, this dark fairy tale perfectly blends classic stories like Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz with Henson’s unique imagination.
So whether you’re 8 or 80, stop on by—there’s plenty of outdoor, creative fun to enjoy this summer at Crystal Bridges. See you there!
