Do you love reading, and need somewhere to share that “just finished a book” energy? Come join our Virtual Public Book Club!
Created to foster intentional and meaningful conversations related to the exhibitions and art at the museum, the Book Club connects museum guests, volunteers, and staff in a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment. Each month, we’ll read and discuss a recent work connected to the museum’s mission and artworks, and make space for everyone to engage in critical conversations and sharing.
This month, we’re discussing Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray’s historical fiction novel The Personal Librarian, which tells the story of J.P. Morgan’s personal librarian, Bella de Costa Greene. While managing the Pierpont Morgan Library, Greene struggles to maintain an identity that is accepted in her era. Based on the true story of a remarkable woman, this tale of secrets, race, class, art, and identity is not one to miss. Museum staff members can pick up their free book copy at the library front desk.
We hope to see you there!
