Trails and Grounds open daily sunrise to sunset.
A painted portrait brings its subject closer to us, making a more intimate communication and understanding possible. Join local artist Ray Allen Parker to explore the basics of portraiture by creating a small, two-color acrylic painting of a contemporary pop icon, Billie Eilish. (Or bring a black & white copy of your own personal icon/hero!) Our goal will be to create an image that solidifies that person and connects us to them.
Free, no ticket required.
Per the CDC’s updated guidelines, we are now requiring all guests ages 2 and up and staff to wear a face covering indoors and while attending outdoor programs, except while eating or drinking. Masks will be available upon entry for those who do not have one.
About the Artist
Ray Allen Parker, who earned a B.A. and an M.A. in English from the University of Arkansas, returned to his lifelong interest in portrait and figure painting following a three-decade career in retail advertising. Through large-scale works, he explores the complex topography of the human face and figure. He lives and works in Fayetteville, Arkansas. His work is currently on exhibit at the Walton Art Center.
