Frank Lloyd Wright designed the Guggenheim—one of his most iconic buildings—in his 70s and 80s. Anna Moses didn’t begin painting until she was 72. Creativity isn’t just for kids—and we’d love for you to create with us.
In this six-week class designed for folks age 55+, you’ll have the chance to express yourself creatively, build artmaking skills, and make connections with other older adults and art lovers. Join artist Sally Ball as we explore the galleries and examine artworks with close looking and conversation, then transform those works into inspiration for your own artistic creations in the studio.
You’ll learn about Sally’s creative process and needle felting techniques, as well as learn how to make your own works of fiber art. Along the way, you’ll get to know the other artists and participants, have a few good laughs, and have the chance to enjoy growing creatively together. At the end of the six-week class, we’ll celebrate the journey and our new skills with a culminating event on August 15, 5 to 6 p.m.
All supplies are included, and no previous artmaking experience is necessary.

About the Instructor
Sally Ball is a multi-media artist with over two decades of experience as a professional creative. She works in a variety of materials and techniques, ranging from traditional methods of working with fibers, metals, and paint, to more contemporary approaches in which these processes overlap and blend. She is inspired by science, math, and nature for the creation of her works of art and brings a love of process to all her artmaking endeavors.
Why Creative Aging
Creative Aging programs by Crystal Bridges strive to support creativity, self-expression, and community in older adults. Each program is guided by a professional artist and educator and is designed to help participants learn and apply artmaking skills, engage with artworks in the museum collection, and build connections with each other. Our goal is to provide a space for older adults that welcomes all, promotes physical and mental wellbeing, and helps people age creatively together.
