Trails and Grounds open daily sunrise to sunset.
We will be closed Monday, May 13, to prepare for the visit of Antiques Roadshow. We will return to normal hours of operation Wednesday, May 15.
Teachers of grades K–6 are invited to explore our new free exhibition, We the People: The Radical Notion of Democracy, as part of ongoing series of professional development workshops.
Join Kathleen Pate, an education specialist from the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum, and see an original copy of the US Constitution through our “Stories of U.S.” art tour. You’ll spend time with the founding documents, see them in conversation with artworks from contemporary and historical artists, and experience for yourself what a school tour to the exhibition will cover.
You’ll also get to put your knowledge of American government and history to the test by taking a modified citizenship test and playing a custom-designed game of Constitution Trivia. And, not to leave your creative side behind, you’ll have the opportunity to take a brief calligraphy lesson and create your own handwritten amendment to the Constitution.
Entertaining and informative, this workshop is a great way to gain inspiration and insights to take back to your students as you help them become engaged citizens of their communities and nation. Best of all, you’ll be able to get free professional development credit just for attending.
Free, tickets required. Reserve your spot online or by calling Guest Services at (479) 657-2335 today.
