Landscape Drawing » Carl Smith
Join us for an evening of sketching on the museum grounds led by guest instructor Carl Smith, associate professor of Landscape Architecture in the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design. Enjoy an hour-long expressive and experiential landscape drawing exercise aimed at capturing the emotional presence of the landscape. All skill levels are welcome, and a variety of drawing materials will be provided.
Carl Smith’s research focuses on anthropogenic landscape change in and around home-places, and the effects on the perceptions of place and preference. His work has been published in the Journal of Urban Design, Journal of Urbanism, International Journal of Art and Design Education, Places Journal and Landscape Research Record. He has delivered lectures on sustainability, housing, place and drawing in Europe, South American and the US, and his drawn-work has been shown in exhibitions in the US and Europe, including the Florence Art and Design Biennale.
