Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art will be closed Monday, May 13, to prepare for the visit of Antiques Roadshow. We will return to normal hours of operation Wednesday, May 15.

What voices are being heard in your classroom?

It’s all too easy to crowd out marginalized perspectives or relegate Black voices to photos from the civil rights movement. If you’re an educator looking to make room for the African American experience in your curriculum, if you’re ready to encounter Black voices and perspectives through art in your classroom, then this Curriculum Boot Camp is for you.

In this two-day, on-site workshop, you’ll learn how to better facilitate rich discussions rooted in African American lived experience and how to encounter that perspective through art. You’ll draw inspiration from guided viewing sessions in the galleries and then apply it to your professional life. You’ll have time with access to a curriculum expert and museum educators to develop lesson and unit plans for teaching the African American experience through art. We’ll cover facilitation strategies to help you navigate discussions in your own classroom, as well as how to incorporate works from the Crystal Bridges permanent collection into your lessons. 12 hours of PD credit available. Register now to reserve your spot!
