How do artists draw inspiration from their identities? Can archival sources help us to understand this connection?
Join Joshua Youngblood (he/him), rare books librarian and head of the Special Collections Instruction and Outreach Unit at the University of Arkansas, in the Contemporary Art Galleries for an exploration of the Ruth Asawa work Untitled. We’ll discuss Asawa’s time at Rohwer, a Japanese American concentration camp that was located in Arkansas, and get an inside look at relevant primary source documents from the U of A collection.
