Discover the Grounds Workshop: Landscape Design
The growing season may be over, but it’s never too early to plan for next year’s garden.
If you’ve been stumped on what to do in your own green spaces, join Outdoor Interpretation Specialist and landscape designer Samantha Best to learn the best steps to take to design your own yard. Samantha will share her methods for site measuring, site analysis, conceptual thinking, and planting design to help you create your own sketches and ideas.
All drawing and writing materials are included, though we ask that you bring pictures and basic measurements of the outdoor space you would like to design.
Tickets are $25 ($20 for members), reserve your spot online or with Guest Services at (479) 657-2335 today.
Registration includes the cost of all supplies for this event.
About the Instructor
Samantha Best has had a varied career, from television editor, to landscape designer, to her current role as Outdoor Interpretation Specialist at Crystal Bridges.
As a landscape designer, Samantha started a landscape architecture and construction company with her husband which she would run for 18 years. Within this role, Samantha honed her skills at understanding how people use outdoor space, worked to educate her clients about environmental stewardship and sustainable landscape practices, and brought unique design solutions to the landscapes of hundreds of clients. As a builder, Samantha was steeped in the practicalities and details of landscape construction.
In 2020, Samantha and her family discovered Northwest Arkansas on a summer road trip, a journey that would ultimately change the trajectory of her career, leading to her current role as Outdoor Interpretation Specialist at Crystal Bridges. Here, Samantha combines her knowledge of designing with nature and her love for storytelling to activate the museum’s outdoor spaces in ways that educate and inspire guests to take an active role as environmental stewards in their daily lives.
