CB to You Mobile Art Lab: Día de Los Muertos
Join us November 5 at the Day of the Dead Festival as we join the community festivities celebrating Día de Los Muertos! The celebration is hosted by the Latin Arts Organization of Arkansas (LAOA) and will be held in downtown Springdale, Arkansas, in front of the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History.
The festival celebrates Día de los Muertos, an ancient Mexican and Mexican American religious holiday with a rich traditions that integrate pre-Columbian and Catholic customs. Often celebrated in Mexico on November 1 and 2 in connection with the Catholic Holy Days of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, for many Latin American countries the holiday is a time to honor and greet the departed as they make their journey back to be with the living each year.
This year’s festivities include food, art, performances, and music, including a free Galería Altar Exhibition, a theater showcase performance of Ballet Folklorico Catrinas, face painting, Mariachi, and more. The CB to You Mobile Art Lab will be bringing the Coca-Cola Stage from the museum and hosting the Son Sin Genero band, as well as drop-in art activities created by local artist Lupita Albarran and flower crown and skull painting activities designed by the LAOA.
We hope to see you there!
Free, no tickets required. Drop by anytime from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
