Bring out your inner artist in this adult creative workshop!

Led by guest instructor Larissa Ramey, we’ll explore the history, aesthetics, and traditions of southern Black culture with a creative zine workshop. You’ll explore works in our temporary exhibition The Dirty South: Contemporary Art, Material Culture, and the Sonic Impulse, then head into the studios to create your own inspired publication highlighting artists and themes from the exhibition, as well as your own creative aspirations.

You’ll learn about the art of zine-making, create a custom book of art and conversation, and get step-by-step guidance to help your vision come to life. Beginner-friendly, this program is open to all experience levels and includes all necessary supplies.

About the Instructor

Larissa Ramey is an artist and graduate student in the MFA program in the School of Art at the University of Arkansas. Larissa developed ‘STOOP TALK” Zine workshops, a collaborative event made for community members to have a fun-filled Saturday working alongside Crystal Bridges to highlight and expand the voices of local and international works of artists of color. To further engage the powers of visual and written language, the workshop will combine a space for guests to write their own manifesto, poetry, and thoughts to express their creativity inside their very own Zine!
