Come join us for an evening of experimenting with texture in painting led by local artist Thomas Coffey. Guests will explore depth and dimension through the use of paint additives and mediums that change the characteristics of the acrylic paint. Each guest will take home their own abstract, nature-inspired canvas. Registration includes all materials, light appetizers, and one glass of beer or wine.
$30 ($26/members), register online or with Guest Services at 479.657.2335.
Thomas Coffey makes paintings that approach his surroundings with a poetic sensibility, negotiate a daily sense of distance and dislocation, and draw close to his subject matter through tactile material. His paintings share his own sensory and emotional experience of his environment: atmospheres that can be joyful, overwhelming, frantic, peaceful, dislocating, or some combination of these all at once.
