In this interactive, three-day virtual workshop open to teachers of all subject areas, we’ll explore how the enduring themes of equality, freedom, and justice present themselves throughout American history.

Working with museum educators and guest instructors, you’ll learn about resources like the We the People microsite developed by Crystal Bridges and practice placing our nation’s founding documents in conversation with works of art by historical and contemporary artists that offer diverse American perspectives on our nation’s founding principles. Through close examination of artworks, careful reading of founding documents, guided lesson planning, and collaborating with educators from around the country, you’ll equip yourself with the resources you need to balance critical, creative, and historical thinking in your classroom—all from the comfort of home.

Best of all, you’ll receive PD credit, classroom resources to take home, and a priority opportunity to schedule virtual or on-site school field trips just for attending—and of course have a blast along the way.

See you there!

$50 registration deposit required*, reserve your spot online or with Guest Services at (479) 657-2335 today.

* $50 refundable deposit required at time of registration.  Full cost of registration to be returned if all Summer Teacher Institute sessions are attended. Computer and high-speed internet connection required to attend.

About Summer Teacher Institutes

Why teach with art? Integrating art across disciplines and learning goals promotes deeper student thinking and engagement. Art can challenge and expand students’ understanding of the world—as well as their places within it. This summer, join us for virtual and on-site workshops that integrate American art into classroom curricula to improve observation and discussion skills, critical thinking, and social-emotional wellbeing for students.

At a Crystal Bridges Summer Teacher Institute, you’ll get to:
• Learn different strategies for teaching with works of art
• Develop ready-to-use lesson plans that align to curriculum standards
• Connect with a community of teachers to share ideas and best practices.
