Teachers and Educators in a lunch workshop, gathered around a table and talking.

In this interactive, three-day on-site workshop open to teachers of all subject areas, we’ll discover strategies for using works of art as teaching tools for subjects ranging from social studies to literature, mathematics, science, and social and emotional learning.

Working with museum educators and guest instructors, you’ll explore how arts integration can positively impact student success by connecting creativity with curriculum. By learning about and practicing the dialogical method of teaching, a process of student-centered dialogue and exploration, you’ll equip yourself with the resources you need to deepen your students’ observation, critical thinking, and discussion skills. In this in-person workshop at the museum, you’ll also spend time in the galleries and get hands-on artmaking instruction from a local artist.

Best of all, you’ll receive PD credit, classroom resources to take home, and a priority opportunity to schedule virtual or on-site school field trips just for attending—and of course have a blast along the way.

See you there!

About Summer Teacher Institutes

Why teach with art? Integrating art across disciplines and learning goals promotes deeper student thinking and engagement. Art can challenge and expand students’ understanding of the world—as well as their places within it. This summer, join us for virtual and on-site workshops that integrate American art into classroom curricula to improve observation and discussion skills, critical thinking, and social-emotional wellbeing for students.

At a Crystal Bridges Summer Teacher Institute, you’ll get to:
• Learn different strategies for teaching with works of art
• Develop ready-to-use lesson plans that align to curriculum standards
• Connect with a community of teachers to share ideas and best practices.
