We asked our community contributors to tell stories from their family or community that embody the spirit of the American West. Watch interviews of Caitie Holt and Ja’Dayia Kursh discussing what the West means to them.

Caitie Holt

Caitie Holt is an Indigenous artist of Cherokee descent, a member of the Cherokee Tribal Nation, as well as the Museum Curator at the Museum of Native American History (MONAH) in Bentonville, AR.

Ja’Dayia Kursh

Ja’Dayia Kursh, born and raised in the state of Arkansas, is the First Black Rodeo Queen in the state of Arkansas, the Founder and CEO of the Cowgirls of Color Campout, the Founder and a board member of the AG for Kids non-profit organization, and was recently featured in Elle France for their article on Cow-Girl Power.
