We asked our community contributors to tell stories from their family or community that embody the spirit of the American West. Watch interviews of Wendell Scales Jr. and Xiaoming Zhuang discussing what the West means to them.

Wendell Scales Jr.

Wendell Scales Jr. is a Class of 2020 Fellow of the LeadAR Arkansas Leadership Program. He is most recently the Deputy Director of Innovation at Jacksonville Lighthouse Charter Schools in Jacksonville, AR as well as an Education and Economic Development Consultant. He is also a key stakeholder in the CommUniversity partnership between Jacksonville Lighthouse Charter Schools, the University of Arkansas Dale Bumpers College of Agriculture, Food and Life Sciences, the University of Arkansas Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Science (MANRRS) Chapter, and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
