Crystal Bridges recently acquired five artworks seen in the popular 2017 exhibition Chihuly: In the Gallery + In the Forest. All five artworks, created by Dale Chihuly, are currently being installed throughout the museum and grounds and will be on display beginning this summer.
“I am honored that my work will be included in the permanent collection of this important American institution,” said artist Dale Chihuly. “The museum, designed by architect Moshe Safdie, and the surrounding natural environment are wonderful settings in which to experience the work of American artists, and I am proud to be featured among them.”
A favorite stop in the museum galleries, Azure Icicle Chandelier will remain hanging in the Modern Art Gallery bridge between the boxes.
Dale Chihuly’s “Golden Sun”, which was developed for Crystal Bridges to complement the backdrop of the Ozark forest, will be returning to the North Forest permanently this summer.
These colorful floats will be on display in the museum’s Upper Pond, near the Great Hall.
Another Chihuly sculpture that was created specifically for Crystal Bridges, Turquoise Reeds and Ozark Fiori will be installed near the bridge on the Art Trail, just outside the windows of the Reflection Space at the end of the Temporary Exhibition Gallery. Seating will be available in the Reflection Space to sit and admire the artwork, and it can be viewed from either inside or out on the trail.
