Gravity

Imagine this image without the figure drawn in it. Examine the abstract paint smears and splotches that serve as the foundation for the work. Then notice how the block of paint may suggest skin tone or echo the figure’s direction of motion. Fahamu Pecou draws his figures over the paint splatters, creating a blend of representation and abstraction. In the process, his work exudes an explosive energy created in this space of visual disruption.
