Mama, Mummy and Mamma (Predecessors #2)
The title of Njideka Akunyili Crosby’s drawing references three generations of women in her family. Her grandmother (Mama) is represented by the “tea things” crowding the table that she once owned. Her mother (Mummy) is depicted as a young girl in the picture hanging on the back wall. Finally, her sister (Mamma) sits contemplating with her elbow resting on the table. How would you depict the legacy of your own family and traditions?
