Nocturne Radio, Model #1186

Unlike the compact, portable radios of the period, at nearly four feet tall, this model is a showpiece. Peach-colored glass conceals a wooden case for the radio receiver and antenna. Walter Dorwin Teague designed sleek styles for the latest luxuries of the twentieth century: cameras, automobiles, refrigerators, and gas station fixtures. Imagine turning this radio’s shiny center knobs to listen to news broadcasts, crime dramas, soap operas, and musical variety shows.
