Hidden among red, pink, and orange brushstrokes, artist Cecily Brown depicts two figures entangled in an embrace. The painterly nature of this scene affords a degree of privacy to this intimate moment. The fragments of a mattress, lamp, and window shade suggest an interior space, while the title’s reference to bed sheets puts an even finer point on what kind of scene is on view.
