About Event

Join us in the America 250: Common Threads Gallery for a talk on the work Melanin Activation by artist Basil Kincaid.

The gallery talk is led by Curatorial Assistant of American and Modern Art, Seynabou Diallo, focusing on Kincaid's quilt-making process. Kincaid's work, recently acquired by Crystal Bridges, is currently on view in America 250: Common Threads.

Basil Kincaid is a contemporary artist based in St. Louis, Missouri and Accra, Ghana who makes large scale, dynamic quilts using traditional methods. His quilt, Melanin Activation, features sequins and vibrantly colored strips of used clothing and "Kente" cloth, which he uses to render the harnessing of solar energy/power.

This event is free with an exhibition ticket.
