Vase with Dragon
This vase appears ruptured, as if deflated and missing pieces, yet it still stands balanced. Steven Young Lee defies expectations of perfection and instead experiments with blue-and-white ceramic traditions. Here, a stylized illustration of a Chinese dragon with angular lines and an exaggerated head echoes the shape of the vase. Lee draws on ceramics history from Asia, Europe, and the Americas to reflect on changing aesthetic preferences and confront perceptions of value.
