Turquoise Reeds and Ozark Fiori
To create these long, tubular, glass shapes, a glassblower is elevated in a lift and blows into a pipe, while another pulls the glass toward the ground. The glass reeds are extremely strong, enabling them to withstand many different weather conditions.
Although the work originated in Nuutajarvi, Finland, there are similarities between this native Ozark landscape and the woods where the work was conceived. This creek bed is an ideal host for the sparkling blue glass figures that evoke the essence of water as they are nestled into the ravine.
