The Orphans' Rights
At age 76, Harry Lieberman attended an art class at a senior center in New York that launched his painting career. He often drew inspiration from his youth in a Jewish village in Poland. The Orphans’ Rights may be inspired by the Book of Isaiah in the Hebrew Bible. A recent translation of chapter 1, verse 18 reads:
Learn to do good. Devote yourselves to justice; Aid the wronged. Uphold the rights of the orphan; Defend the cause of the widow.”
