Bad Lawn
In Bad Lawn, Roxy Paine celebrates what many try to control: nature’s unruliness. Rather than a perfect green lawn, this tabletop version of a yard consists of nothing but weeds, scraggly grass, worn areas, and sprouting fungi. Paine crafted each plant in the sculpture from industrial materials, and then meticulously painted them by hand.
In his fictional version of nature, Roxy Paine invites us to reconsider our relationship with nature.
