Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art will be closed Monday, May 13, to prepare for the visit of Antiques Roadshow. We will return to normal hours of operation Wednesday, May 15.

You can’t just leave current events at the classroom door—your students are affected by the news, too. But for the prepared educator, this can be a teaching opportunity, not an obstacle. If that sounds like you, or you’d like it to, then we invite you to join us for a Curriculum Boot Camp focused on current events and the arts.

In this two-day, on-site workshop, you’ll learn how to better facilitate rich discussions rooted in current events and how to encounter these issues through art. You’ll draw inspiration from guided viewing sessions in the galleries and take time with a curriculum expert and museum educators to develop lesson and unit plans for teaching current events through works of art. We’ll cover facilitation strategies to help you navigate discussions in your own classroom, as well as how to incorporate works from the Crystal Bridges permanent collection into your lessons. Please come prepared with curriculum standards and a current event in mind. 12 hours of PD credit available.

Per CDC guidelines, guests and staff who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are no longer required to wear face coverings. If guests are not vaccinated, face coverings are still required. Face coverings are still recommended for children 2 and up, unless they are vaccinated. Face coverings will be available upon entry for those who do not have one.
