CHOOSE YOUR CHIHULY
Lauren Haynes
Curator, Contemporary Art
An artwork from the current Chihuly exhibition will join our permanent collection, and we want YOU to help us choose. We’ve selected four artworks from the exhibition that would complement the Crystal Bridges collection: Azure Icicle Chandelier, Fiori Boat, Niijima Floats, and Sole d'Oro. Stay tuned to our social media channels and eNewsletters to learn the winner.
Voting has now ended! The winner will be announced on Saturday, August 26.

Niijima Floats
Team Floats

Clay Bakker
Trails and Grounds Manager
“As a nature lover, I’m drawn to the way the floats softly interact with the pond. They provide a colorful accent to an already breathtaking scene. I worked with the Chihuly team during the installation, and at one time, I had my waders on helping to secure the works in the pond. Now, I get to hear the “oooohs” and “ahhhs” as trail-goers encounter the work.”

Azure Icicle Chandelier
Team Ice

Stace Treat
Interpretation Manager
“I had the privilege of planning this exhibition from the beginning and now I get to see visitors awestruck as they round the corner and see the chandelier in all its brilliance. Aside from its beauty, what’s most exciting about this work is that it was designed just for Crystal Bridges, specifically for this space. I can’t imagine that space without it.”

Fiori Boat
Team Fiori

Case Dighero
Director of Culinary Programming and Events
“Bright, brilliant, and textured...the boat is fun and uplifting! In my position, I get to talk to visitors attending events and programs in the forest and I hear how much they love the boat’s colors and playful forms. It creates a warm and welcoming sensibility much like Crystal Bridges itself, and I would love to see this work added to our collection.”

Sole d'Oro
Team Sun

Raven Cook
Museum Educator
“Looking at Sole d’Oro, I think about the majesty of the sun and how all things depend on it for life. To me, this work represents light, positivity, and hope. I work in education, and can’t wait to introduce this artwork to students this fall. Wouldn’t it be great to have the sun here permanently as a tangible reminder of the light we can all be in our community and in the world?”
