Wednesday Series » Difficult Conversations
Educating using works of art provides a rich opportunity, and entry point for the discussion of difficult topics in the classroom. Using works from our permanent collection, we will share strategies for discussing challenging subjects, while considering multiple viewpoints and addressing our own inherent biases. We will also discuss ideas for establishing classroom norms for civil discourse and the creation of a “brave space” in the classroom which are needed for these discussions. 2 hours of PD credit available.
Sponsored by Charlotte and Forrest Lucas and Scarlett and Neff Basore.
