Virtual Adult Art Workshop » Imaginary Friend Puppet-Making with JooYoung Choi
Reconnect with childlike creativity and joy as you design and construct your own imaginary friend puppet in this evening adult workshop led by State of the Art 2020 artist JooYoung Choi! In this workshop held over Zoom, participants will be led through a simple puppet-building process and will learn about Choi’s own puppet characters that inhabit her fictional realm, The Cosmic Womb.
Participants are encouraged to gather inspiration for their puppets from their childhoods by going through old drawings and sketchbooks or favorite childhood media. Through this process, ask yourself: What about these images and creatures pull at my heart? What made them important? What about them can be transmitted into a new puppet friend?
Materials for the workshop will be provided in an Art Box for pick-up at Crystal Bridges, or shipping for an extra $15.
About JooYoung Choi:
Through painting, video, sculpture, animation, music, and installation art, multidisciplinary world builder JooYoung Choi documents the interconnecting narratives of a highly-structured, expansive fictional land called The Cosmic Womb. Guided by The Cosmic Womb mythology, Choi creates work that merges the autobiographical with the fantastic into a visual form.
