Botanical artist Kate Nessler will teach this introduction to botanical art Each evening, Nessler will guide you through the basics of observing live flowers and plants, and capturing their beauty with pencil, charcoal, and pastels. Classes will include drawing and studying plants in the field as well as in the studios. All materials are provided.
Kate Nessler is an award-winning botanical artist living and working in Arkansas. For over 35 years, she has painted a diverse variety of specimens, creating paintings that are unique and expressive while staying within the confines of the requirements of botanical art. Her awards include three Gold Medals from the Royal Horticultural Society in England, and the Award of Excellence from the ASBA. Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Royal Horticultural Society, The National Museum of Woman in the Arts, Washington DC, The Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, Pittsburgh, PA, The Morton Arboretum, Lisle, Il; and the Shirley Sherwood Collection, UK, as well as in many private collections. She is a contributing member of the Brooklyn Botanical Garden Florilegium, NY, and her work has been selected for inclusion under the umbrella of HRH The Prince of Wales Charitable Foundation’s Highgrove Florilegium and the Transylvanian Florilegium.
