Remember 2019 Storyshare Workshop

Join Crystal Bridges and Remember2019 for a workshop on healing from the remembrance of racial terror, coinciding with the centennial of the Elaine Massacre of Phillips County, Arkansas. Through songs, storytelling, and reflection, we will seek answers for questions such as: How should we remember tragedy? How does it shape our identity? How is it present with us today? What are our long standing traditions for moving through our hurt? And Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s timely question – “Where do we go from here?”

This discussion will be led by local educator, connector, and entrepreneur, Airic Hughes, and emerging visual performance artist and Arkansas native, Angela Davis Johnson, members of the Remember2019 collective.

Remember2019 is organization who believe that “formalizing a space for memory, reflection, and grieving” can help our communities recover from traumatic history of mass violence. Remember2019 efforts to make space for the congregation of the Black communities and Black cultural workers of Phillips County, AR and elsewhere. Their work is to support and facilitate local practices of self-determination, memory, and reflection in communities directly affected by racial discrimination.

Complimentary refreshments and light appetizers provided.
