Opening Exhibition Lecture » Hank Willis Thomas

Artist Hank Willis Thomas will present an opening exhibition lecture for Hank Willis Thomas: All Things Being Equal… Moderated by artist, historian, and Hank’s mother, Deborah Willis, the lecture will introduce guests to Hanks process as a conceptual artist, as well as touch on his work as a co-founder of the first-ever artist-driven super PAC, For Freedoms, a nationwide initiative to promote civic engagement through the arts.

Combining familiar images from sports and advertising with histories of art and politics, conceptual artist Hank Willis Thomas examines popular culture, and how art can raise awareness in the ongoing struggle for social justice and civil rights. Featuring 80+ artworks including photographs, sculptures, and mixed media, Hank Willis Thomas: All Things Being Equal… is the first comprehensive survey of this acclaimed and award-winning artist’s career.

Free with online registration.
