Opening Exhibition Lecture » Crafting America

Join us for an opening discussion on the exhibition Crafting America, presented by curators Jen Padgett and Glenn Adamson. Featuring over 100 works in ceramics, fiber, wood, metal, glass, and more unexpected materials, Crafting America presents a diverse and inclusive story of American craft from the 1940s to today, developed by Jen Padgett, associate curator at Crystal Bridges, and Glenn Adamson, guest curator and scholar of craft, design history, and contemporary art. This conversation will give insight into the formation of the exhibition, glimpses of artists and artworks included, and discussion on the varied backgrounds and perspectives in craft.

Jen Padgett is an associate curator at Crystal Bridges. Her research focuses on modern art from the 1900s to 1950s, exploring connections between media and intersections between fine art and design.

Glenn Adamson is a curator and writer who works at the intersection of craft, design history and contemporary art. Currently Senior Scholar at the Yale Center for British Art, he has previously been Director of the Museum of Arts and Design; Head of Research at the Victoria & Albert Museum; and Curator at the Chipstone Foundation in Milwaukee.

Free. Register to join via Zoom webinar, or tune in on our Facebook page.
