In this three-part series on pop art from our permanent collection and the temporary exhibition Roy Lichtenstein: In Focus, Educator Brady Plunger, Curator Chad Alligood, and Interpretation Manager Stace Treat will present a special topic each night providing a closer look and activities about this iconic art period.

Curator Chad Alligood kicks off the series with an overview of the temporary exhibition Roy Lichtenstein: In Focus and other iconic works from the Pop art movement. After a lively presentation in Bellows and Cassatt on works from our collection and beyond, we’ll transition into the galleries for discussion, fun activities, and an even closer look at the artworks.

Speaker: Brady Plunger
Educator Brady Plunger will take you deeper into the visual aspects of Pop art in this second session. This evening, guests will take a close look at the aesthetics, source material, theory, and the “why?” during a close look at comics and commercial imagery in the Lichtenstein exhibition. Get ready for some hands-on fun as we spend an evening breaking it all down!

Interpretation Manager Stace Treat will wrap up the series with the big question: where did Pop go after these artists? Tonight, we’ll take an inspiring last look at the impact of Pop on the art world, the critical responses to the movement, and a close look at artists who were inspired through its enduring legacy.
