Gallery Conversation » Winter Solstice Moment with Robert Irwin’s Invisible Art

Join artist and educator Sara Segerlin to examine the representation of Robert Irwin’s Column during one of the shortest days of the year. We’ll observe the invisible qualities of the artwork through a variety of time-based tests from 3D glasses, sun prints, kaleidoscopes, photographs and meditation. Irwin became a pioneer of the “Light and Space” movement in the 1960s, and has conceived over 55 site-conditional projects, including the Central Gardens for the Getty Center, Los Angeles; the architectural and grounds design for Dia:Beacon, New York; and his large-scale permanent installation at the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas.

Free, no registration required.
