Canceled – Featured Artisan Demonstration and Sale » Renée Hoover
Watch as contemporary baskets are weaved before your very eyes! With over 20 years of experience, Renee Hoover from the Cherokee Nation will demonstrate how she creates her award-winning baskets. Renée weaves her double-wall baskets with reed spokes divisible by seven; the large baskets have 56 spokes and may include 28 Cherokee circles. The Cherokee circles are challenging to create because the weaver must work quickly with a lightly-damped reed to form the circles without losing any of the strength of the reed, while avoiding the transfer of colors.
